Raul Castro in Ecuador for Ceremony

HAVANA TIMES, August 10 – Cuban President Raul Castro arrived in Quito, Ecuador on Sunday to attend today’s swearing in of President Rafael Correa for a second term.

On his first night in the South American country Raul attended a Political Council meeting of representatives of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA).

The ALBA, which stresses mutually beneficial trade and social and economic development also promotes regional solutions to common problems.  The organization’s members are Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, San Vincent’s and the Grenadines, Honduras, Antigua & Barbuda, Ecuador and Cuba.
