Raul Castro Recognizes New Honduran President

HAVANA TIMES – ??Cuban President Raul Castro acknowledged the victory of Honduran president-elect, Juan Orlando Hernandez, winner of the elections on November 24th, reported the Tegucigalpa daily Process.

“On the occasion of your election as President of Honduras, I extend my congratulations. Receive the assurance of my highest consideration,” Castro said in his brief message, transmitted through the Cuban embassy in the Central American nation.

The results of the vote had been challenged by Xiomara Castro, the Liberal Party candidate and choice of the ALBA alliance, and wife of ousted former president Manuel Zelaya.
