Thirty US Teachers Headed for Cuba

HAVANA TIMES, July 6 – A delegation of 30 teachers from the United States will travel to Cuba on July 19, reported the California-based Ventura County Star on Monday.

“We think the embargo on Cuba needs to be lifted ,” said Tanya Cole, regional coordinator of the nongovernmental Witness for Peace, who sponsors the trip.

Cuba is off-bounds for most US citizens due to a decades old travel ban. To go, special US Treasury Dept. permission must be obtained. This is often easier to accomplish on a group educational trip like the ones sponsored by Witness for Peace (http://www.witnessforpeace.org/).
