Three Cubans to Participate in Winter Athletics Competition

HAVANA TIMES — Three Cuban athletes will participate in the European winter athletics competition, whose first event will take place in the German city of Karlsruhe, EFE reported.

In addition to the 2012 London Olympics silver medalist in pole vault, Yarisley Silva,  the other Cuban participants will be indoor hurdlers Orlando Ortega and Yordan O’Farril. Olympic champion Dayron Robles will not be competing.

The participation of pole-vaulter Dailis Caballero and hurdler Ignacio Morales is yet to be determined due to “budgetary reasons,” said Cuban athletics commissioner, Jorge Luis Sanchez.

The Cuban delegation is scheduled to participate in four or five races on indoor tracks in Europe, where they will remain for between 18 and 23 days.
