Tourism Relocates Work Force

HAVANA TIMES, Aug. 24 – Some 9,000 tourism workers, a tenth of that sector’s employees in Cuba, were relocated in other types of work because of the low season and the effect of the international financial crisis, reported IPS.

The island’s authorities reported a slight growth in tourist arrivals in the first half of the year, but nonetheless saw a drop in revenues as spending per person declined.
