US Program to Help “Allies” in Cuba

HAVANA TIMES, Dec. 25 – A US government program to help allies inside Cuba drew criticism on Capitol Hill on Sunday from Rep. Howard L. Berman, chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and former presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry.

The Washington Post ran a news item highlighting the aftermath of the December 5 detention of a US government agent carrying out secretive illegal “pro-democracy” activities in Cuba that may prove detrimental to the Cubans involved.

The Post noted that in a speech to the Cuban parliament last Sunday, President Raul Castro “accused the Obama administration of increasing support for “open and covert subversion.”
