Vatican Foreign Minister Visits Cuba

HAVANA TIMES, June 15 — Vatican Foreign Minister Dominique Mamberti arrives Tuesday in Cuba.  During his visit, Mamberti is scheduled to hold talks with his counterpart Bruno Rodriguez and will participate in the 10th Catholic Social Week, which takes place from June 15-20.

The Vatican foreign minister’s visit takes place in the midst of the dialogue between the Catholic Church and the government on the issue of political prisoners, reported IPS.

It has not been announced whether Mamberti will meet with Cuban President Raul Castro or his chief adviser, former President Fidel Castro.
