Viñales Valley Being Restored

HAVANA TIMES, Jan. 26 – The authorities and inhabitants of Viñales Valley, a highly popular tourist area declared a World Cultural Landscape Site, are speeding up the restoration of the homes in that area, most of which were affected in one way or another by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike, reported IPS.

Numerous tobacco curing houses were also severely damaged in the region known for its caves, productive farm land and curious mounds. Viñales is located 160 kilometers west of the Cuban capital in Pinar del Rio province, where construction brigades have worked non-stop since the storms.
