HAVANA TIMES, February 7 – The occasion was the 50th anniversary of a performance back in February 1959 when the Alicia Alonso Ballet Company, forerunner of the Cuban National Ballet, danced to welcome the new government and Rebel Army, fresh from toppling the Batista dictatorship. The venue was the same 5,000-seat Karl Marx Theater, known as the Teatro Blanquita before the Revolution.
