HAVANA TIMES, Sept. 13 – Cuba finished a disappointing third behind Russia and Italy at the World Boxing Championships in Milan, Italy, with Roniel Iglesias (60 kg.) the only islander to obtain a gold medal.
Eleven titles were at stake and the winners were spread out among nine countries. Cuba also won one silver medal Osmay Acosta (91 kg) and two bronze in the fists of Yankiel Leon (54 kg) and Jose Angel Larduet (81 kg)
Russia retained its title with two gold medals, four silver and two bronze. Host Italy finished second with the other two gold medals.
