Cuba-Taiwan Match of Undefeated

HAVANA TIMES, July 4 — Undefeated Cuba and Taiwan lock heads on Saturday in the World Port Baseball Tournament being played in Rotterdam, Holland. Game time is 8:00 a.m. EST.

Cuba won its first two games 1-0 over Holland and a surprising 8-0 walk over Japan, with top notch pitching from Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez and Michael Folch respectively.

Taiwan won its opener on Thursday 4-3 over Japan, and added an 8-3 win over Holland on Friday.

Wen-Yang Liao picked up Friday’s win for Taiwan going five scoreless innings. Holland’s starter David Bergman pitched well allowing two runs on five hits in five innings but the relief pitching was unable to contain the Taiwan hitters who scored three runs in both the sixth and eighth innings.

The second game on Saturday (1:00 p.m. EST) pits Japan against Holland, both with no wins and two losses.
