Cuban Pole-vaulter Wins Gold in Pardubice

HAVANA TIMES — Cuban athlete Yarisley Silva, the Olympic silver medalist in the pole vault, won on Tuesday with a mark of 4.71 meters at the indoor athletics tournament in Pardubice, the Czech Republic, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

Silva, who the Sunday before last won a bronze at a Moscow tournament, this time defeated Russian athletes Anastasia Savchenko (4.66) and Anzhelika Sidorova (4.50), who took second and third places, respectively.

According to the note, the next meet scheduled for the Cuban vaulter will be this coming Saturday at the Samsung Pole Vaulting Competition, in Donetsk, the Ukraine.
