Cuban Volleyball Players Suffer Three Defeats

HAVANA TIMES — The Cuban female volleyball squad lost again yesterday, this time against Serbia, in the tournament being held in an Olympic qualifying event being held in Tokyo.

The Cubans didn’t win any of the sets they played on Wednesday, with this latest defeat adding to those suffered against South Korea and Russia, virtually canceling their chance of getting one of the four Olympic tickets to London.

Today is a rest day at the competition, which will resume matches on Friday with games between Thailand-Peru, Russia-Serbia, South Korea-Taipei China, and Japan-Cuba. The tournament concludes on Sunday.
