Cuban Womens Volleyballers Fall to DR

HAVANA TIMES, May 7 — The Cuban women’s volleyball squad has lost another opportunity to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics. They went down to the Dominican Republic on Saturday by a score of 3-1 in the NORCECA regional tournament.

The Cubans were paddling upstream from the start, while with this victory the Dominican team locked up their tickets to London. The final scores were 25-18, 25-23, 27-29, 25-20.

Since 1972, Cuban female squads have competed in all but two Olympic tournaments (those in 1984 and 1988). They still have one last chance to get to London through an upcoming worldwide qualifying tournament.
