HAVANA TIMES, Jan 25 — US Latino culture was the subject of discussion during a panel held yesterday in Havana as part of the activities of the Casa de las Americas Literary Awards, reported Prensa Latina.

The voices of Puerto Rican essayist Juan Flores; Lisandro Perez, a Cuban sociologist living in the US; and American anthropologist Renato Rosaldo, who facilitated the event, were heard along with those of experts from Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica and Cuba.

The specialists, who are members of the literary award jury of the Casa, delved into the relationship between African-Americans and Latinos, the definitions “Latinos” and “Hispanics,” and the relationship between diaspora and transnationalism.
