Yowlis Bonne Back As Cuban Wrestling Champion

HAVANA TIMES, Jan 19 — Yesterday’s Cuban Wrestling Championship, held in the central province of Ciego de Avila, saw Bonne Yowlis regain his title in the 60 kg weight category, reported the Trabajadores newspaper.

Bonne’s victory over Alejandro Valdes in the finals clenched his first place position in the division prior to the Pan American Olympic qualification matches to be held in the United States in February and March.

Today sports enthusiasts are expecting to also see the emergence of a new champion in the women’s competitions.

The next national tournament will take place in the eastern Cuban province of Granma.
