My Neighborhood During and After the Sea Surge

HAVANA TIMES — Seemingly hurricane force winds lashed out yesterday afternoon in the La Puntilla neighborhood, in Miramar, Havana. The waves, several meters high, caused considerable flooding as the tide rose. The penetration of the sea covered Zero, 1st, B and C Streets.

You could see the floating sewage passing by.

The next day the streets dawned covered with rubbish, stones and mud. The recovery work began, carried out with the support of cleaning brigades.

The penetration of the sea and its collateral damages are still remembered in the 1990s during the El Niño current.

It will be a long time for La Puntilla to return to normal.
