HAVANA TIMES – On October 9th, a protest is scheduled to be held in front of the Cuban Consulate in Spain. Some members of this group will be present to raise their voice and demand freedom, social rights and democracy for the Cuban people.
Right now, Cuba is experiencing a setback which doesn’t seem to have any end in sight. Many Cubans say that the country has returned to the Special Period that made them suffer so greatly in the ‘90s. Food is in shortage and becoming super expensive, hygiene products are gradually disappearing from store shelves, and the fuel situation is getting worse and worse every day, affecting public transport.
Meanwhile, people’s individual rights are being constantly trampled over and artists, journalists and activists continue to be repressed, many of whom are denied authorization to leave the country.
In this video, I have a brief chat with Lazaro Mireles, an activist who has been fighting for many years to see a Cuba free from this dictatorship that has been oppressing the Cuban people for 60 years.
