Authorities Hope to Boost Tomato Production

HAVANA TIMES, March 7 — Cuba’s agricultural and food industry authorities expect this year’s tomato harvest will meet the demand of the canning industry and distribution in the markets. In 2010 the island had to resort to imports to supplement its needs, while in 2009 it lost a great deal of the harvest due to problems with collection and distribution, reported IPS.
