HAVANA TIMES — The Chamber of Deputies of Bolivia ratified an agreement on Tuesday in La Paz between that country’s government and Cuba dealing with cooperation in the struggle against drug trafficking, reported the Prensa Latina.
According to the agreement, the two nations will exchange information about the illicit trafficking of drugs as well as experiences in the treatment of drug addicts, explained the president of the Commission on International Policy and the Protection of Immigrants, Ingrid Zavala.
Similar cooperation agreements aimed at combating the illicit trafficking of drugs have been signed between Bolivia and Colombia, Brazil, Peru, the USA and now Cuba – each within the framework of respecting the internal laws and policies of each country.
Bolivia’s approach to dealing with drug trafficking involves the reduction of five thousand hectares annually of land used for surplus coca production.
