Cuba, China to Join on Cancer and Brain Treatments

HAVANA TIMES — Cuba and China signed agreements on Saturday in Havana to conduct joint research on therapeutic antibodies for treating cancer and to facilitate the rehabilitation of motor functions of the brain, reported EFE.

The agreement was reflected in the Final Act of the Ninth Meeting of the Joint Commission for Scientific-Technological Cooperation, signed by Cuba’ minister of Science, Technology and the Environment, Elba Rosa Perez, and her Asian counterpart, Wan Gang.

Both nations also work on cutting-edge technologies involving magnetic imaging, electroencephalography, techniques for the development of vaccines and drugs, renewable energy, meteorology, seismology, transgenic plants, new varieties soybean and genetic modification.

China is the only country with which Havana has a separate joint committee for scientific and technological cooperation.
