Cuba Denies Entry to Singer Manolin

Manolin, "The Doctor of Salsa"

HAVANA TIMES, April 20 — The musician Manolin, known as “The Doctor of Salsa,” complained on Thursday through the Facebook social network that the Cuban government had “not authorized” his entry onto the island to record an album.

According to the musician, he had been selected by salsa star Issac Delgado and some Puerto Rican entrepreneurs to participate in a Cuban All-Stars album that is being produced on the island.

“They’re recording right now in Havana — everyone except me — because the Cuban government didn’t authorize my entry into my country,” said the celebrated artist.

“They don’t want the Cuban public to see me, but that will happen whether they want it or not – it’s a question of time,” said the singer, who went into exile several years ago after the official ban of his song “El puente” (The Bridge).
