Cuba Has New Business Trade Group

HAVANA TIMES — The Cuban government created the new Foreign Trade Enterprise Group (GECOMEX), integrated by twelve export and import companies. It will be subordinate to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment.

According to a note on the official Cubadebate website on Monday, the Enterprise Group will take on the business system previously handled directly concerned ministry.

GECOMEX includes the following companies: CUBAEXPORT, ALIMPORT Cubazucar, QUIMIMPORT, MAPRINTER, MAQUIMPORT, METALCUBA, EMED, Transimport, CUBATECNICA and GESEI.

The changes are part of the restructuring process for State businesses and institutions being carried out by the government of Raul Castro.
