HAVANA TIMES — Florida State University changed its mind on facilitating its ballpark, contracted for two Industriales veterans games, involving players from the island and those residing in the USA, scheduled for August 10 and 11, reported the El Nuevo Herald.

The Cuba Entertainment Group, sponsor of the event that will celebrate the 50 years of the popular Havana baseball club, is desperately looking for a new venue, but recognizes that the options are few and the limited time.

“Our main sorrow is with the veteran players, who for weeks have been training in Cuba and were very excited to be coming here to meet with their fans and their former teammates,” said Alejandro Canton, president of the company.

According to the note, other city properties previously had refused to accept the presence of the former Industriales players for fear of demonstrations.
