Cuba Makes Volleyball Final Round

HAVANA TIMES, July 9 — The Cuban Men’s Team has made it to the six-team final round in the World Volleyball League to take place from July 21-25 in Cordoba, Argentina.  While first round play is still not over, the Cubans were already declared the winners of Group D.

Brasil has also qualified as the winner of Group A and Italy in Group B.  Group C has Russia on the brink of winning with the United States still holding a slim chance.  The best second place team, probably Serbia (Group B) or Bulgaria (Group A), will also qualify along with host Argentina.

In league play on Thursday, Cuba defeated Argentina 3-2 (25-18, 25-20, 30-32, 23-25, y 15-8); Brasil over Bulgaria 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24); Serbia over Italty 3-2 (21-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-6), and Argentina 3-2 over Poland.
