Cuba Promotes Tourism at Chinese Trade Fair

HAVANA TIMES, March 1 — From today until Saturday, representatives from Cuba will be promoting the island as a destination for tourism at a trade fair in the Chinese city of Guangzhou. The aim is to increase the number of travelers from Asian markets to the island, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

The effort is directed at representatives of travel agencies, corporate executives, the press and tourism authorities of that city as part of the “Authentic Cuba” campaign launched in China in July 2010. The fair is also being attended by representatives from countries in Europe and North America.

The Caribbean nation welcomed more than 2.7 million visitors in 2011, an increase of 7.3 percent over the previous year.
