Cuba Refinery Ahead of Production Plan

HAVANA TIMES, Dec. 5 — The oil refinery in the central Cuban province of Cienfuegos met its annual production plan yesterday by having processed a total of 20,182,000 barrels of oil, reported the Trabajadores weekly.

Starting today, workers will begin the maintenance phase on all equipment to begin next year’s production cycle on January 4, explained Humberto Padron, the plant manager of the Cuban-Venezuelan joint venture.

The refinery  — the first ALBA project materialized in Cuba — has processed more than 81.2 million barrels of oil since its inception. Since 2007, more than 780 ships loaded with Venezuelan crude have landed at the docks of this plant.
