Cuba to Celebrate May Day with a Huge March

HAVANA TIMES April 30 — Under the headline “Everyone to the March Tomorrow!” the Granma newspaper today announced the annual May Day parade to be held on Tuesday in Revolution Square.

According to the news note, the march in the square will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the participation of 50,000 health care workers. Close behind them will follow blocks of students, athletes, soldiers from the Revolutionary Armed Forces, and security personnel from the Ministry of the Interior.

According to public service messages in the national media, the parade will serve to demonstrate the people’s commitment to complying with the Communist Party’s economic and social reform guidelines.

Unofficial sources are expecting the presence of large numbers of State Security agents in civilian dress among the crowd.
