Cuban Badminton Player Debuts in Suriname Tournament

HAVANA TIMES — Cuban athlete Osleni Guerrero today begins his participation in the 11th International Badminton Tournament, taking place in the city of Paramaribo, Suriname, when he faces the local player Kevin Yao Lin, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

The chances of Guerrero at the Ismay van Wilgen Hall are high since he’s ranked 121st in world ranking with 13,250 points while his rival doesn’t appear to be among the top 350 players in the world.

Cuba’s main rivals will be Israeli competitor Misha Zilberman, 60th in world ranking, and the Scottish player Alistair Casey (149th), given that Kevin Cordon of Guatemala will not be participating. Cordon beat the island’s competitors in the finals of the Pan American Games in Guadalajara and at the Grand Prix de Peru.
