HAVANA TIMES — A team made up of seven Cuban boxers arrived in the Dominican Republic on Sunday to participate today through February 22 in the 30th International Cup.
The squad is led by Olympic champion Roniel Iglesias (69 kg), though it’s marked by the absence of Robeisy Ramirez, the gold medalist in the London 2012 games. He was injured during training, according to statements by the head of the coaching staff, Rolando Acebal.
The roster also includes 2011 world champion Julio Cesar la Cruz (81 kg.), Olympic bronze medalist Yasniel Toledo (64 kg.), former world youth champion Erislandy Savon (+91 kg.), Yosvany Veitia (49 kg.), Ivan Oñate (60 kg.) and Yasiel Despaigne (75 kg.).
