Cuban Boxing Coach Candidate for Distinction in India

HAVANA TIMES — Cuban boxing coach Blas Iglesias could become the first foreign coach to receive New Delhi, India’s Dronacharya Award, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

A selection committee considered 53 proposals and came up with a short list of eight candidates, from which Indian President Pranab Mukherjee will announce the five winners on  August 29, National Sports Day in that Asian country.

The Cuban coach has been involved in some of India’s most resounding triumphs in global fisticuffs, including two bronze medals at the recently concluded 2012 Olympic Games.
