Felipe, who won after several rounds of voting over 18 works, is a founder of Guiñol Theatre Group, a professor at the Pinar del Rio Art School, and a two-time winner of the Casa de las Americas Literary Award.
The writer told reporters that the award, which will be conferred at the next Havana International Book Fair (Feb. 2012), is recognition of Cuban literature designed for children and young audiences, the public to which all of his work is devoted.
