Cuban Gov. to Sell Construction Materials at Half Price in Disaster Relief Effort

HAVANA TIMES — The Cuban government will charge fifty percent of the cost of building materials purchased by families affected by Hurricane Sandy, according to a statement read on National Television News on Wednesday.

Families whose homes suffered damage or were destroyed will be able to start making their purchases of materials starting next Monday, while those who have already bought goods will be entitled to a retroactive credit.

The state strategy proposes that victims can apply for lower interest rate bank loans at extended repayment terms, while the authorities will estimate the resources to be allocated according to the damage suffered by each home.
