Cuban Jazz Artists Awarded in Ukraine

HAVANA TIMES – Pianist Alexis Bosch, percussionist Yissy Garcia and trumpeter Roberto Garcia, took the top prize for each of their instruments at the Master Jam, held from 5 to 8 June at the Russian Academic Theatre of Odessa, local sources reported.

The Cubans participated in this first edition of the Festival, with a total of 300 musicians from 41 countries, in which the 9-year-old sensation from Indonesia, Joey Alexander Sila, won the Grand Prix.

Other winners were the Panamanian Ruben Ramos (bass), American Hernán Jay Rodriguez (saxophone), Israelis Moran Baron (trombone) and Meir Ben Michael (guitar), the Ukrainian Tamara Lukasheva (vocals), and Nelly Armenian Manukian (ethnic instruments).
