Descendants from the couple that disappeared 22 years ago
HAVANA TIMES — Employees of the National Zoo Park, located in the Havana municipality of Boyeros captured a herd of ten green monkeys that were raising havoc in crops of local farmers.
The herd, perfectly structured, was formed from a pair of specimens that escaped from the zoo in 1992 to the neighboring forests of the Institute of Ecology and Systematics where they freely reproduced for 22 years.
According to Granma newspaper, the leading specialist of the zoo’s lions’ den was responsible for the operation, something he had never before realized.
