Eliades Ochoa Nominated for Grammy

HAVANA TIMES, Dec 13 — The CD Afrocubism by the legendary Santiago de Cuba troubadour Eliades Ochoa has been nominated for a Grammy Award for in the “Best World Music” category.

The disk, produced by the British company World Circuit, is a collaboration between Ochoa and his group “Patria” and several artists from Mali

Eliades previously won a Grammy in that same category in 1999 as a member of Buena Vista Social Club project.

This time he will be competing against the Nigerian artist Femi Kuti, the South African male choir Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and the Malian band Tinariweny.
