HAVANA TIMES — The International Fair of Havana (FIHAV 2012) opened its doors this past Sunday and will keep them open until Saturday, November 10, at the EXPOCUBA fairgrounds in the capital city. It is being attended by over 3,000 exhibitors from 62 countries, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.
More than 1,500 participating companies will exhibit products such as foods, construction materials and equipment, industrial raw materials, as well as health care, educational and tourism-related services.
The delegation from Spain has positioned itself as the most representative, while China continues reserving more space at Cuba’s largest trade fair. Meanwhile Russia, Italy and Venezuela have shown significant growth in comparison to their participation in 2011.
Cuban Vice President Ricardo Cabrisas opened the event, where exhibits are in place for Cuban companies such as Union Suchel, Cubaexport, Tecnoazucar, Los Portales, Thaba, Labiofam, Rio Zaza and Havana Club International.
For his part, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, said GDP growth in Cuba consolidated at a rate of 2.1 percent in the first half of 2012.
