HAVANA TIMES — Iberia Airline said on Friday it will suspend its flights to Santo Domingo and Havana starting on April 1, 2013, as part of its restructuring plan, reported Reuters.
The planned cuts will eliminate unprofitable routes, about 15 percent of its total, which also includes the planned suspension of flights to Athens, Cairo and Istanbul in mid-January.
Iberia, which until September accumulated losses of 262 million euros, includes in its plan the cutting of 4,500 jobs, reducing pay by between 25 and 35 percent, reducing its fleet (25 aircraft less), and segregating maintenance and ground activities.
The airline will offer ticket refunds or flights with other companies to customers with reservations for dates after the suspension of services.
