HAVANA TIMES, Sept. 14 — Cuba’s Meteorological Institute (Insmet) continues to track Hurricane Igor and now Hurricane Julia as they move west-northwest in the Atlantic Ocean. While neither is expected to come anywhere near Cuba or its neighbors, the small island nation of Bermuda could face the brunt of the major storm.
Meanwhile, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami reports a disperse broad low pressure system has developed in the western Caribbean and could become a Tropical Depression in the coming 24-48 hours. The Mexican Yucatan and Belize are being told to be on alert for the possible development of this weather system. Jamica, Cayman Islands and Cuba could also receive locally heavy rainfall, says the NHC.
