International Women’s Day Rally in Santiago De Cuba

HAVANA TIMES — The commemoration of International Women’s Day takes place today at the Mausoleum to the Martyrs of the Second Eastern Front in the province of Santiago de Cuba, reports the Cuban Information Agency.

According to the article, the site is where lie the remains of Vilma Espin, who was the founder and president of the Federation of Cuban Women, as well as the wife of current Cuban President Raul Castro.

The commemoration take places in the middle of the “Day of National Mourning,” decreed on Friday by the Cuban Council of State, following the death on Tuesday of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
