Lionel Messi May Visit Cuba

HAVANA TIMES, Dec 27 — Argentine footballer Lionel Messi could travel to Cuba next year to receive the award from the Prensa Latina news agency for “Best Male Athlete in 2011 in Latin America and the Caribbean.”

The news was anticipated yesterday by his father, Jorge Messi, who told Prensa Latina that it would be an honor for the “Pulga” (the Flea) to receive this award, received previously only by another Argentine footballer, Diego Armando Maradona, in 1986.

Messi, perhaps the greatest footballer in the world, is said to be planning to visit Cuba during his 2012 vacation.
