Movie in the Works on the Life of Cuban Singer Polo Montañez

HAVANA TIMES — A film based on the life of the late Cuban singer Polo Montañez will be produced under the direction of filmmaker Delso Alkyne, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

“I feel that Cuban culture owes a film to Polo. He has been a person very dear to the people, a revelation, a great personality,” said the director in an interview with a digital television station in Pinar del River Province.

Currently the project is in its script-writing phase with an initial team of four people, which includes scriptwriter Amilcar Salatti, producer Yapur Santiago and actress Yelisett Valdes.

Polo Montañez died in 2002 following a car accident. He became the third Cuban ever to be awarded a platinum album for his debut work Guajiro Natural.
