US Returns 25 Cubans Intercepted at Sea

HAVANA TIMES — A group of 25 Cubans were repatriated to the island last week by the crew of the Knight Island US Coast Guard cutter, reports the El Nuevo Herald newspaper.

The illegal immigrants were part of two groups, of 14 and 11 people, who were aboard makeshift vessels attempting to reach US soil. The two groups were intercepted in two different operations.

According to the Miami newspaper, Coast Guard officials in Key West carried out the interceptions on December 27 and 28.
