New Buenos Aires to Havana Flight

HAVANA TIMES – Aerolineas Argentinas (AA) will start a new service from Buenos Aires to Havana on Sunday January 4, 2015, confirmed the head of the airline, Mariano Recalde on Monday.

AA will start flying to Havana with two weekly flights on Sundas and Wednesdays, using a Boeing 737-800 for 170 passengers.

“We decided to fly to Havana and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic because until now these destinations are marketed by foreign airlines and involves business between 15 and 18 million per month,” said Recalde.

Argentina’s state company will also open in January routes to Mexico and the Dominican Republic, all with stop in Caracas, Venezuela, while from April the flight will include Ecuador.

Argentina is the main source of tourists from the Southern Cone of South America to Cuba. In 2013 90,084 Argentinians traveled to Cuba less than in 2012, while from January to August this year, the figure is 50,586.
