HAVANA TIMES — The Consul General of Belgium in New York, Herman Portocarero, has been proposed as the new head of the delegation of the European Union (EU) in Havana, by Catherine Ashton, High Representative for EU for Security Affairs and Foreign Policy.
According to a report from Europa Press in Brussels, the appointment has yet to be ratified by all 27 European members.
Portocarero has acted as a diplomat in Cuba, where he previously served as Belgium’s ambassador to the island between 1995 and 1999.
