HAVANA TIMES — Mexico and Cuba on Thursday launched a new direct air route between Mexico City and the central Cuban city of Santa Clara, reads a statement from the island’s Ministry of Tourism.
Flights are scheduled every Thursday on Cubana de Aviacion TU 204 aircraft (each with a capacity of 170 passengers). For the inaugural flight, the travelers will be Mexican tour managers and other professionals interested in the Cuban leisure industry.
With the new route, Cuba is introducing Villa Clara to Mexico, which adds to the existing island destinations of Havana and the Varadero beach resort complex.
According to the new note, Mexico is among the major markets to Cuba, one promising a very favorable prognosis for expansion.
