Paquito D’Rivera to Perform in Madrid

HAVANA TIMES — The famous Cuban saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera will perform this week in celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the prestigious Café Central jazz club in Madrid, reports the website El Norte de Castilla.

Paquito D’Rivera, one of the giants of Latin jazz and the winner of 11 Grammy Awards, recognizes that he has everything to be happy, lacking only one thing to fulfill his dream: “To be able to go back home and walk the streets of Havana, or what remains of them,” he said in an interview with RTVE.

For its part, Café Central is the only club in Spain that has appeared on the list of the British magazine Wire’s top 10 best jazz clubs, while the US jazz magazine Down Beat has included it among the 100 most important places on the planet.
