Posada Carriles Pleads Not Guilty

HAVANA TIMES, April 15 — Cuban-born former CIA agent Luis Posada Carriles pleaded not guilty to the 11 charges for which he will be tried next August 10 in the city of El Paso, Texas, announced his lawyer Felipe Millán. Posada will have to answer for perjury, obstructing proceedings, migratory fraud and false testimony when requesting U.S. citizenship after being smuggled into the US in 2005. Another change involves his relation to 1997 hotel bombings in Havana.

Venezuela has also asked the US to extradite Posada to stand trial for the 1976 plane bombing that killed 73 persons off the coast of Barbados. The naturalized Venezuelan is also wanted for other torture and murder charges in the South American country when he worked for the secret police.
