Raul Castro to Attend Summit in Chile

HAVANA TIMES – Raul Castro’s participation in the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European Union (EU), which will take place from 26 to 28 January 2013 in Chile, was confirmed on Thursday.

According to sources in the presidential palace La Moneda in Chile, Havana has assured that the Cuban president will be present.

This will be the first visit of the Cuban President to the South American country, and on the occasion he will receive Cuba’s presidency of the Latin American community, held until the last day of the Summit by Chile.

A total of 45 presidents from Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe are expected at the summit.
