Seattle’s Northwest Sinfonietta in Cuba

HAVANA TIMES, Jan 30 — The Northwest Sinfonietta, a musical group from the US city of Seattle, gave a concert this weekend in the central Cuban province of Cienfuegos, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

In the hundred-year-old Tomas Terry Theater, the northern performers shared the billboard with Cuban musicians to perform works by Barber, Tchaikovsky and Mozart. In addition, the artists played one piece titled “Opre Rome!,” which was composed by Christophe Chagnard – the music director of the visiting group.

Chagnard said he would leave the city with a good impression of the expertise with the local musicians, with whom he intends to perform in a concert in the cities of Tacoma and Seattle in October.
